Shaler Area students travel to Japan to learn language and culture
Fifteen Shaler Area High School students traveled across the globe to Japan to learn about the country and people from July 10-20. 
Information for Orientation Day: August 25
Orientation Day will be on Tuesday, August 25, for all students in Kindergarten, 4th grade, 7th grade and 9th grade.  
Summer Food Service Program
The Shaler Area School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the National School Lunch Program to provide free lunches to any child age 18 and younger.  
2015-16 Free and Reduced School Meals
The grace period for the Free & Reduced Lunch Program ends October 7, please visit the PA School Meals website if you have not applied for breakfast/lunch benefits for your child(ren) for the 2015-16 school year.  
2015-2016 AmeriCorps Volunteers
Keystone SMILES/Americorps and the Shaler Area School District are in need of several tutors for district’s primary and elementary schools.  
Shaler Area students learn Spanish culture first-hand
A dozen Shaler Area students traveled to Spain this summer to experience the culture and language in the District’s first trip to the country.
 
Congratulations to David Berdik for placing 1st in the 2015 National Leadership Conference
David Berdik, an upcoming senior at Shaler Area High School, placed first in the Desktop Application Programming category at the Future Business Leaders of America’s National Leadership Conference, held in Chicago in July.  
Jane Neely 5K run/walk benefits Shaler Area's Backpack Initiative
This year's 11th Annual Jane Neely 5K Run/Walk, which kicked off Shaler Township's Fourth of July festivities, raised more than $2,000 for Shaler Area's Backpack Initiative. 
Shaler Area School Board approves the 2015-2016 budget
Shaler Area School Board of Directors approved the 2015-2016 school year budget during its June 24 meeting, which maintains the District’s current level of educational programming and services.
 
Administrative changes for the 2015-2016 school year
The Shaler Area School Board and administration are making preparations for the start of the 2015-2016 school year by establishing an administration team as the District continues the search for a permanent superintendent.

Millvale Community Library summer programs
Millvale Community Library will host several summer programs starting June 9 and a Youth Apprenticeship program in August.
