Food Service Department

The Nutrition Group is the food service provider for Shaler Area School District.  We are a Food Service Management Company (FSMC) contracted by Shaler Area School District.  The Nutrition Group along with SASD follows the National School Lunch and National School Breakfast Programs.  Please visit
our website and view the information that is provided.

Shaler Area families are encouraged to utilize SchoolCafé - a FREE tool to manage their children's meal accounts. SchoolCafé is available online and as an app from the AppStore and Google Play.

  • access your child's purchase history
  • monitor account balances
  • receive low balance alerts
  • make online payments
  • set up automatic payments any time your student's account falls below your pre-determined limit
  • apply for free or reduced meals
  • view daily, weekly, monthly menus
Please note that there is a small convenience fee for online payments. To avoid the convenience fee, families can make meal payments via check (payable to Shaler Area School District Cafeteria) or cash at any time. Payments can be sent to the respective school office. Be sure to place payment in an envelope clearly marked “School Lunch Program” with the child’s name, amount and parent contact information in the event of any questions. If the payment is for more than one student, indicate how the money should be split (for example, Johnny = $10.00 and Sally=$15.00). Payment can be made in any amount to best suit a family’s budget.
To create your SchoolCafé account, you will need your child's Student ID #. Student ID #s are also displayed within The Infinite Campus Parent Portal accounts. For assistance with Student ID #s, please contact your child's school office.

All Families are strongly encouraged to set-up low balance alerts and/or to regularly check the balance of their students' meal accounts online at www.schoolcafe.com. Due to recent changes in the Pennsylvania Public School Code as well as school district policy, our food service staff is not permitted to provide courtesy reminders directly to students regarding low or negative balances.  All communication regarding student meal account must occur directly with parents/guardians.

Breakfast and lunch will be served to all students on early dismissal days.  Modified menus will be provided to SAHS and SAMS. Please view the breakfast and lunch menus for daily offerings.
