Dear Shaler Area Parents and Guardians,
 
Scott Primary School will continue to house the Backpack Initiative for the 2023–2024 school year. Maryann Swartz ([email protected]) will continue to coordinate the efforts.  This program was established established in 2014 at the Shaler Area Middle School to assist district students in need of weekend food supplies.  
 
Each family participating in this program will receive a bag packed with child-friendly, single-serving snacks and easily prepared meals each week.  At this time, there are no eligibility requirements for participating in this program other than completing and submitting the form found at the link below.  
 
Please note that weekly item distribution is dependent on supply availability. While we expect that supplies will be available for weekly distribution, we cannot guarantee availability. Enrollment will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  
 
Families and community members that are not in need of participating in the program but would like to donate items or make monetary donations, can send donations to Scott Primary School.  (Please make checks payable to Shaler Area School District and write Backpack Initiative in the memo line.)
