2015-16 Free and Reduced School Meals
The grace period for the Free & Reduced Lunch Program ends October 7, please visit the PA School Meals website if you have not applied for breakfast/lunch benefits for your child(ren) for the 2015-16 school year.  
Transportation request to an alternate childcare location due by Aug. 14
District families requesting transportation to/from an alternate childcare location for the 2015-2016 school year will need to complete the formal request form and return it by Aug. 14, 2015.

Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA)
Beginning on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, Shaler Area School District will administer the PSSA (Pennsylvania System of School Assessment).  
Shaler Area Elementary students explore computer coding by programming robots
For the first time, Shaler Area students as young as fifth-grade are exploring robotics and computer programming in their computer classes after teachers in the Business and Information Technology Department worked to rewrite the curriculum to expand the computer science offerings throughout the District. 
Shaler Area Elementary School starts the District's first School Bank Program
Shaler Area Elementary School students now are able to take their spare change and deposit it into a bank savings account without ever leaving their school building. 
Shaler Area students explore computer coding with the Hour of Code event
Shaler Area students as young as fourth grade are exploring computer coding during the week of Dec. 8-12 as part of a global movement to introduce students to computer coding.
