Permission Forms

Upcoming Club and Intramural Information

Clubs and intramurals occur at different times throughout the school year.  The teacher in charge of the club or intramural will determine the meeting dates.  Once a club or intramural is announced  on on the morning announcements students can come down to the activities and pick up a flyer.  That information will also be listed on this website (with the permission form).  If your child is interested in signing up for a particular club or intramural, please promptly complete the permission form on the flyer and return it to the Activities Office.  Once the roster for a club or intramural is full, no more students will be allowed to sign up.
In the past we also sent the morning announcements to the parent that have signed onto Edline. Since we have a new operating system, that feature isn't available.  If you would like to sign up for daily announcements go to www.remind.com and use the code
db3dfa to get the Activities Announcements.  You will then receive an email everyday with tells when the clubs and/or intramurals are open for registration and other information that is occurring in our building.
Below are the individual flyers/permission forms for different clubs and intramurals that have been announced to the students.

School Banking

At this time the School Banking Program is not active.  We hope to have this program up and running again next school year.
Shaler Area Elementary has teamed with PNC Bank to offer    a School Bank program for the benefit of our students. The School Bank Program was established to introduce banking related information to children at an early age through “hands on” experience, age appropriate workshops and other related activities. Through this interaction, children will gain an understanding of the value of money and the importance of saving.

At the foundation of this program is the operation of a “School Bank”, which takes place in a designated area within the school. The School Bank is operated by students and supervised by the GATE teachers, and enables them to make their deposits at school. Activities such as this enhance the lessons taught in class, putting concepts into “real life” situations.

Who can participate? The school bank is open to grades      4-6 with selected 6th grade students staffing the school bank.

How does the School Bank operate? All students are encouraged to open their own savings account. The account may be opened with a minimum deposit of $5.00 at a local PNC branch in the school district. You need to bring a form of ID for yourself and your child, along with your child’s social security number. Of course, if your child already has a savings account with PNC Bank or has a school banking account from last year, he or        she may make deposits to that account at the Shaler Area Elementary School Bank this year. Other important                    information you should know:

Cash deposits of $20.00 or less      will be accepted at the School Bank, as well as check deposits of any amount. Deposits to the School Bank more than $20          may be made by check or money order payable to the student. Cash deposits of more than $20.00 can be made at a local PNC Bank branch. The School Bank will only accept deposits. Withdrawals may be made at any PNC Bank branch by the student, accompanied by a parent/guardian.
