Marzolf 2016-2017 Board Descriptions

 Marzolf PTO Board Positions

Birthday Board/Valentine Social (1 volunteer)-Decorates monthly Birthday board and distributes student birthday gifts; provides refreshments for the initial PTO meeting and other social events as needed; coordinates Staff Appreciation Week with the Vice President with a luncheon; coordinates Ice Cream Social.

Book Fair-(Requires 2 Volunteers including the President and Vice President); organizes yearly book fair and BOGO book fair; attend Scholastic workshop and meets with the sales representative; sets up book fair, orders items to be sold, recruits volunteers, distributes free book provided by PTO; responsible for coordinating schedule with Mrs. Pruhs for the week the book fair will take place in the school; coordinates schedule with approval of the School Principal, submits deposits to the Treasurer during book fair week.

Capri Sun/Juice Pouches (1 Volunteer)- Collects pouches throughout the year and redeemed at the end of the year. Collection bags will be placed in the entry way of the school and the lunchroom. The chair will collect pouches once weekly, count them, and send them in for redemption. This can be done at home.

Cartridges for Kids (1 Volunteer)- Sends out reminders and collects ink cartridges. A bin will be placed near the main office. Once the bin is full, the chair will call the vendor for pick-up. This can be done at home.

Coke Rewards (1 Volunteer)- Caps are collected throughout the year and are redeemed at the end of the year. Collection buckets will be placed in each classroom and collected once a month by the chair. The chair counts the caps and sends them in for redemption. The chair will keep record of bottle caps per class and send out monthly reminders. This can be done at home.

Community Coordinator (1 volunteer) - Act as a liaison between Marzolf and various community organizations. Organize the turkey feather and egg drives. Coordinate with teacher representative for the Sharing and Caring campaign at Holiday time. Present all requests for donations from outside organizations to the PTO for consideration. Responsible for soliciting money or services from local businesses to support our PTO. Works directly with other Marzolf positions to determine what funds they need and how local business can help.

Dance- (Requires 2-3 Volunteers including the Treasurer) Responsibilities include: Act as a liaison between Marzolf and the dance directors, monitor school lobby during dance lessons. Oversee registration, collect and deposit tuition, maintains dancer records, solicit volunteers for rehearsal and recital, report to the treasurer for monthly payroll, reconcile with the treasurer monthly, and apply for permits. Oversee recital, send programs and tickets to printer, and organize fundraisers. 

Marzolf is excited to announce Dance Showcase will return to Marzolf for 2015-2016. Check out their webpage at danceshowcasell.com. Classes will be on Monday evenings. Rates are $22 per half hour class and $26 for a 45 minute class. We are looking forward to another great year of dance this year! Stay tuned for the schedule.

DPC- (Requires 1 Volunteer including the President); representatives from each school in the district meet monthly to discuss ideas and concerns; reports about the meeting council will be discussed at our PTO meeting; meeting are held the first Wednesday of the month in the morning and they last about two hours; will be responsible to provide refreshments for one meeting, paid for by the PTO; membership paid for by the PTO; creates Marzolf School Hotline;

Field Day (Requires 1 volunteer)-Responsibilities include organizing the committee to plan field day; act as a liaison between the School Principal, Art teacher, Physical Education teacher, and the Executive Board to coordinate the theme, games, and teams.

Fundraising-(Requires 1 Chairperson, including (2) volunteers, this also includes the President and Vice-President); coordinates fundraisers; presents two company options to board, responsible for soliciting volunteers to help throughout the year, schedule kick-off assembly, produces informational letters and reminders, and distributes candy; collecting and depositing money on a daily basis is ESSENTIAL; must maintain daily financial records; delivers merchandise and prizes;

Labels &Receipts- (Requires 1 Volunteer and coordinates with School Assemblies/Activity); responsible for recruiting and organizing volunteers to collect and tally a variety of receipts and labels for participation in programs that supply schools with educational merchandise as compensation; works with principal to select items earned; cash awards go to PTO treasury; programs include, but are not limited to: Giant Eagle, Shop’N’Save, Campbell’s, Big G Box Tops, Tyson, and Target Take Charge of Education.

Membership-(Requires 1 volunteer); Organizes and coordinates annual PTO membership drive and the ongoing process to encourage membership by producing informational letters and reminders, collects and deposits dues weekly, compiles membership list and distributes it to the Executive Board, no later than November 1st. Keeps records of all paying dues members along with the Executive Secretary.

Homeroom Parent Coordinator- (Requires 1 Volunteer); Produces information letters and reminders to recruit head homeroom parents for each classroom in September, works directly with homeroom parents to coordinate 3 parties; helps homeroom parents coordinate volunteers for classroom activities and field trips; compiles Marzolf Homeroom Parent Directory to be distributed to the Executive board and for the website before the Halloween Party.

Rudolph’s Round-Up-(Requires 2 Volunteers including the Executive Board); selects consignment company or shops with pre-approved PTO funds; recruits volunteers and produces information letters and reminders; responsible for scheduling the week Rudolph’s Round-Up will take place with the school principal and coordinating shopping times with teachers; has Executive Secretary obtain permit; organizes set-up, replenishing stock, breaking down, and taking inventory; maintains accurate financial records and daily deposits are required.

School Assemblies/Activities- (Requires 1 volunteer and coordinates with Labels and Receipts); Works directly with school principal and Executive Board arranging and scheduling school assemblies; coordinates activities, and special school activities and events.

Yearbook-(Requires 2 Volunteers); responsible for selecting the company that will provide the best package for producing the Marzolf Yearbook; responsible for working with the Volunteer Coordinator for recruiting volunteers to help take pictures at all special events involving Marzolf students; responsible for organizing pictures (with captions) and submitting all materials to the company, on time, for production of the final copy.  Pictures can be emailed to marzolf.yearbook@gmail.com. Yearbooks will be $5.00 per copy.
