Shaler Area Varsity Competitive cheerleaders were named first runners-up in the Medium Varsity Division of the PIAA Competitive Spirit state championship in Hershey, Jan. 23-24.
The squad finished 2nd out of 41 teams with Bishop McCort, from Johnstown, beating Shaler Area by 6.2 points.
The squad travels to Orlando the first week in February to compete in Nationals.
