Shaler Area High School students are being recognized by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Seventeen high school students brought home 28 Gold Key, Silver Key or Honorable Mention awards in the annual competition. A panel of 12 artists, art educators and art professionals selected the winning artwork from the 1,846 submissions from across the Pittsburgh region.

The students will be honored during the Ceremony of the Pittsburgh Arts Regional Scholastic Art and Writing Awards “Visionary Instincts” on Sunday, Feb. 22, at the La Roche College Kerr Fitness and Sports Center.

The artwork from Shaler Area students will be displayed in the Scholastic Art, Pittsburgh Art Regional exhibition from Feb. 7 to 22 at La Roche College’s Zappalla College Center and Cantellops Art Gallery.
