Shaler Area students selected for PMEA District 1 Honors Choir
Five Shaler Area High School students were recently recognized for their vocal talent by being accepted into the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 1 Honors Choir.

The students selected for this honor include seniors Dan Bittner, Livia Kirasic and Paige Milavec, and juniors Andrew Lesnett and Talha Lone.

The students were selected based on their level of musicianship, involvement in the vocal arts and level of vocal talent.

The students selected for the Honors Choir will rehearse with guest conductors before performing on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair as part of the two-day festival.

The PMEA District 1 Honors Choir festival is comprised of students from 54 districts in Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, Green and Fayette County. Two choirs will be showcased at this festival (full female ensemble and full male ensemble) totaling 150 singers. The male ensemble will be under the direction of Dr. Sean Taylor, director of choral activities at the University of Texas at Brownsville. The female ensemble will be under the direction of Julia Thorn, director of choral activities at Susquehanna University.
