Peace Cranes for Franklin Regional
Shaler Area students from the Elementary, Middle and High Schools joined Origami Salami and Folding For Good a student based organization in creating a tangible token of community support to the Franklin- Regional High School Community with regard to the event of April 9. 2014.
Students, groups and individuals from all across the United States and other countries have contributed origami cranes to this endeavor. The Shaler Area students and community members from the Shaler North Hills Library contributed a total of 632 cranes to add to the total count of 3070 from Folding for Good!
This effort was sponsored by the Shaler Area PAGE Group, with a special thank you the High School GATE Department, and to Dr. Darla Gerlach, GATE teacher at the Middle School who organized and set up a table for students to create the cranes during the Open House Night. Mr. Bill Casey, Art teacher at the Middle School was on hand to show students how to fold a peace crane.
The students enjoyed participating in extending good wishes to the Franklin Regional School Community.
