Shaler Area School District accepted a donation from Kops for Kids to support the Backpack Initiative
Shaler Area is so appreciative of the community’s support of the Backpack Initiative.
During December 2021, local law enforcement representing Kops for Kids presented the Shaler Area Backpack Initiative with a $1,000 donation to support the program.
Kops for Kids is a charitable organization that aims to help children in the greater Pittsburgh area by supporting organizations that directly benefit children.
The Shaler Area Backpack Initiative was established in 2014 to assist district students in grades K-8 in need of weekend food supplies. Each child participating in this program receives a bag packed with child-friendly, single-serving snacks and easily prepared meals each week. Currently, the program serves approximately 100 students in the 2020-21 school year. There are no eligibility requirements to participate in this program.
