Shaler Area School District made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s annual Homecoming parade and picnic, originally scheduled for September 19, 2020.
Each year, Shaler Area’s homecoming festivities bring together thousands of current students, staff, alumni, and community members from its four municipalities, Etna and Millvale boroughs and Reserve and Shaler townships.
With the current county and state restrictions on outdoor gatherings, the school district cannot host a homecoming event that the community has come to know and deserves. Therefore, it is with regret that the district cancels this year’s homecoming events. The football game has been rescheduled for Friday, Sept. 18, and will be livestreamed for fans. Additional details on accessing the livestream will be posted on the district website prior to the game.
Shaler Area looks forward to hosting an even bigger homecoming event in 2021 to celebrate the district’s 50thanniversary.
