Shaler Area High School will offer a free virtual preschool program for children ages 3 through kindergarten for the 2020-21 school year.
Due to COVID-19 precautions, this year’s SAHS Preschool Program will look much different. The program will be offered virtually and run on the same days as the traditional preschool program (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), but families can establish their own routine as for when they may want their child to view the material.
High school students enrolled in the preschool lab classes have started the process of lesson planning, choosing themes, and preparing for lessons just as if the program were in-person. The high school's Preschool Program will offer options for circle time activities (days of the week songs, pledge of allegiance, show and tell, etc.), Learning centers (Math, Literacy, and Art and Science activities), Game ideas, storytime, music and movement, and even snack ideas!
The high school Preschool Program is looking for additional children to enroll in the program to fill a full virtual classroom in order for the high school students to learn to adapt to a situation such as this.
