Shaler Area High School students hear from trade unions
Classroom of students
The Shaler Area High School Technology Education Department hosted four local trade unions to discuss career information with students. The Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (BAC), Keystone Mountain Lakes Carpenters, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT), and Laborers International Union presented information on their individual trade and becoming an apprentice. Each one of these unions stressed the fact that they offer free training programs with tuition free college credits while participating in the apprenticeship. With a local building boom in the Greater Pittsburgh Area, these trades are in need of skilled labor.
