High School ceramics students explore raku firing techniques

Shaler Area High School students studying ceramics had the opportunity to explore raku firing techniques.

The raku firing process involves heating a piece of pottery in a kiln then removing it while still hot and applying a post-firing effect to the piece and allowing the piece to cool in open air.
