Shaler Area Middle School is being recognized for further integration of school-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). PBIS is a proactive approach that incentivizes and rewards positive choices students make.
SAMS has previously achieved Tier 1 Fidelity, and is now being celebrated for achieving Tiers 1, 2, and 3 Fidelity. The implementation of the program at SAMS has been led by Amanda Grady and supported by collaborative efforts of the entire faculty and staff. Our educators will be recognized at the PA PBS Network Implementers Forum in November 2023.
Dr. Bryan O’Black, Deputy Superintendent of Schools, shared, “We could not be prouder of the commitment of the entire Shaler Area Middle School team to make this happen. This recognition speaks volumes to the culture that is being created at Shaler Middle High School. Our PBIS program not only at the Middle School but across the District has become a tremendous point of pride. Implementing and sustaining a PBIS program at the middle-school level is unique, challenging, and comes with a level of commitment that many cannot undertake. This group continues to push forward and develops new, forward-thinking approaches to helping our students pave the way to success at SAMS!”
