STEM Camp is a Catalyst for Learning
Dozens of elementary students had the opportunity to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in a dynamic way this summer through Shaler Area School District STEM Camp. From creating layers of skin with Jell-O to building model roller coasters to trying their hand at stop-motion and green screens, students were able to choose fun science topics that interested them.

Cari Kelm, Project ENGIN and Primary STEM Coordinator for the District, notes that the format of summer camp allows children space to discover. “Kids have the freedom to create, wonder, and explore. They seem to be much more willing to take risks and try something new. The diverse and immersive content also allows students to dive deeper and see that STEM is not just one thing,” she shares.
