Shaler Area High School presents The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Nov. 10-11

Shaler Area High School students will present a new twist on a classic when they stage “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as this year’s fall play.

The play is based on a short story by Washington Irving and recounts the “legend” of Ichabod Crane and his experiences in Sleepy Hollow, an area known to be haunted. Ichabod Crane, a schoolmaster from Connecticut, competes with Abraham “Brom Bones” Van Brunt for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel until one ill-fated night when Crane encounters an eerie figure in Sleepy Hollow.

While the play is set in 1790, Shaler Area will stylize the production to incorporate steampunk fashions, which combines historical elements with anachronistic technology.

This year 38 students will take the stage as cast members, including senior Andrew Lesnett as Ichabod Crane, senior Zach Reed as Brom Bones, and sophomore Isabella James as Katrina Van Tassel

The performances will be 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Shaler Area High School auditorium, 381 Wible Run Road.

Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students, children, and senior citizens.

For performance or ticketing questions, call 412-492-1200 ext. 1530.
