SAES exhibit shows student creations using recyclable materials

Shaler Area Elementary School students exhibited recycled creations and inventions during a special celebration on May 18, 2017.

The project was supported through a “Change Machine” grant from The Sprout Fund, a Pittsburgh nonprofit agency supporting innovation, community change, and making the region a better place to live, work, play, and raise a family.

Students set out to find unique uses for recyclable materials and create practical toys, sports games, recycled jewelry or an indoor/outdoor sculpture from repurposed materials.

The project helped increase students’ knowledge of repurposing gently used materials in the environment and encouraged recycling in a positive way.

The projects will be on display at the Millvale Community Library and Shaler North Hills Library and within the school.
