Shaler Area will remain CLOSED until further notice
March 30, 2020

Dear Shaler Area families:

Today, Governor Tom Wolf extended the countywide stay-at-home order through April 30 and announced that all K-12 schools in the commonwealth will be closed until further notice as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Given this announcement, we wanted to personally share the message that Shaler Area School District and all district buildings, fields, and facilities will remain closed until further notice.

With the extension of the school closure, Shaler Area transitioned to remote learning options for students starting today, Monday, March 30. The remote learning options will continue through the entirety of the school closure. No instruction will take place during spring break, Thursday, April 9, through Monday, April 13.

We are disappointed and discouraged that we are not able to offer our families an end date to this closure. The safety and security of our students is our number one priority, and it is our hope that our efforts as a community and state help bring a positive resolution to this pandemic. We will continue to provide updates to our families as they are available.

In the meantime, please know that we recognize the challenges many families are facing, and we are here to support you and will do whatever we can to meet the needs of our community. Please stay safe and healthy, and as always, thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Sean C. Aiken
Superintendent of Schools
