Shaler Area continues to pursue sale of the former Jeffery Primary School

Shaler Area School District and School Board of Directors continue to pursue the sale of the former Jeffery Primary School property on Wetzel Road.

 

In an effort to market the sale of the former Jeffery Primary School, Shaler Area partnered with Fourth River Development, LLC in April 2020. Fourth River Development specializes in helping school districts market and sell unused school properties. 

 

“We have a responsibility to the residents of the Boroughs of Etna and Millvale, and the Townships of Reserve and Shaler to be good stewards of the taxpayers’ money,” said Superintendent Sean Aiken. “We partnered with an expert in the real estate field to help the district and School Board of Directors navigate the marketing and sale of a large district asset such as the former Jeffery Primary.”

 

The Jeffery Primary listing attracted multiple inquiries and requests to tour the property. Fourth River Development’s efforts resulted in the submission of multiple offers on the property, all of which were reviewed by the district.  

 

In December, the School Board of Directors approved an agreement with ANG Real Estate, LLC for the sale of the Jeffery property subject to terms and conditions outlined in the agreement. ANG Real Estate is currently conducting its 90-day due diligence.

 

During its January 20 voting meeting, the School Board of Directors approved an adjustment to the offer made by ANG Real Estate to align the due diligence periods of the agreement. Provided ANG Real Estate concludes a satisfactory due diligence process and meets all terms of the agreement, a closing date could be set for spring 2021.
