In the fall of 2000, the Shaler Area School District created a committee to develop the Shaler Area School District Athletic Hall of Fame. Administrators, teachers, community leaders and students were invited to attend the first meeting of the committee that occured on November 9, 2000. The committee established the guidelines for the Athletic Hall of Fame.
The first "class" was selected and inducted on October 13, 2001. A banquet was held in celebration of the inductees. Annually, the nomination process has continued and a new class of honorees is inducted. As of this date, the Shaler Area School District Athletic Hall of Fame contains 38 honorees.
SELECTION PROCESS
The Hall of Fame Committee will review all the nomination forms sent to determine what nominees will be selected and inducted into the Shaler Area School District Hall of Fame. It was the recommendation of the Hall of Fame Committee to select ten inductees to the classes of 2001, 2002, and 2003. Each class must contain at least one member of the “Old Timers” group. Future committees will have the responsibility of determining the number of inductees after 2003.
