The Sprout Fund has a new initiative the Change Machine, which provides $500 grants to support, celebrate and showcase unique youth-led initiatives with the power to incite positive change. Change Machine projects are innovative, non-traditional ideas that focus on current issues and challenges faced by youth, and inspire a diverse group of participants to be more active, involved, and civically-engaged.
The grant is open to any youth or any youth-group (ages 18 or under) with an idea proposal to be funded in the amount of $500 in support of positive change. The proposals could be anything. The only requirement is that they are student-driven/student-led and have the potential to make a positive contribution with a new or interesting idea.
The application process requires answering a couple of questions and the support of a responsible adult mentor to guide our youth to think about ideas, complete the application and oversee the projects/money.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed on the first Fridays of February, May, August, and November. Decisions are typically announced 5-6 weeks after each deadline.
