Students raise money for local NICU
For the second year in a row, Madison Ballew, an eighth-grader, organized a whole-school fundraising event to benefit the neonatal intensive care unit where she spent the first weeks of her life after being born two months early.
On September 28, Shaler Area Middle School students participated in a “Tape a Teacher” event to raise money for the West Penn NICU. Students had the opportunity to purchase a length of duct tape during their lunch periods and use it to tape volunteer teachers to the wall.
Thanks to the support of building administrators and teachers and the generosity of students, the school raised more than $160 to be donated to West Penn NICU.
