Shaler Area student musicians featured in 10th annual Shalerpalooza
The stage at Mr. Smalls Theatre, in Millvale, has hosted countless national music performers, but on Friday, March 9, Shaler Area student musicians will take the stage.

Shalerpalooza X, a concert to benefit the class funds, has become an anticipated event in the Shaler Area community and over the past 10 years has grown to include more student musicians and soloists. This year, the concert high school and middle school students performing as bands, solo artists, DJs, and spoken word performers. The event also is expanding to include the student artwork in the concert hall.

The event started in 2009 with a concert by Dale Mangold’s Pittsburgh-based rock band, Tobacco Road. Mangold, a Shaler Area custodial/maintenance staff member, has expanded the event over the years to feature more of the student body’s musical and artistic talents.

More than 300 students and adults are expected to attend this year’s event and proceeds will be split between the four high school class’ class funds which help offset the cost of senior year events such as prom, banquets or graduation caps and gowns.

Shalerpalooza will be on Friday, March 9, starting at 7 p.m. at Mr. Smalls Theatre, in Millvale. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door and can be purchased at the High School activities office or on Mr. Smalls website. For more information, contact Dale Mangold [email protected].
