Shaler Area High School presents Alice in Wonderland Nov. 8-10
Shaler Area High School students will present a whimsical “Alice in Wonderland” for this year’s fall play.

The play is based on the classic story by Lewis Carroll and follows the adventures of Alice, played by senior Taryn Nasiadka, as she navigates through the strange Wonderland. Along the way, Alice encounters many unique characters including the Queen of Hearts (sophomore Zoe Babbit), White Rabbit (junior Kelsey Marshall), Caterpillar (senior Daniel Horgan), Cheshire Cat (junior Fiona Loudon), and Mad Hatter (junior Isabella James).

Shaler Area students are challenging their imaginations to bring Wonderland to life on stage and have repurposed playground equipment from the former Rogers Primary school to create a set that is a literal playground for Alice and the other characters.

This year, 36 students will take the stage as cast members and 20 additional students will provide support as the stage crew. The play is co-directed by Shaler Area teachers Kristen Susany and Anne Loudon. Additionally, senior Joseph Franz is serving as student director, junior George Vassilev is assistant student director, and junior Michael Bly is choreographer.

The performances will be 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 8 and 9, and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Shaler Area High School auditorium, 381 Wible Run Road.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students, children, and senior citizens.

Children are invited to attend a free tea party (with purchase of a play ticket) from 1 to 1:30 on Saturday, Nov. 10, before the matinee performance. Members of the Shaler Area High School English Honor Society will host the tea party, which will include refreshments, crafts, and a photo booth.
