The Shaler Area Elementary School's 6th Annual Run for the Titan Trail will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 9:00am.
The Run for the Titan Trail 5k is a fundraiser to help fund the cost of a year-end reading incentive trip to Millvale Riverfront Park and Three Rivers Heritage Trail for Shaler Area Elementary School students. Free voluntary reading in our school has increased exponentially since the creation of Blazing a Titan Trail: A Reading Adventure. Students strive to read 25 books throughout the school year to attend the trip.
Blazing a Titan Trail: A Reading Adventure is a school-wide reading incentive program at Shaler Area Elementary School, an upper elementary school with 1,100 students in grades 4, 5, and 6. The program has been developed by a volunteer committee of teachers, librarians, parents, and administrators.
The 5K run and 1 mile walk courses will begin at Shaler Area Elementary School and circle through local neighborhood streets, ending back at the school.
Check-in/Registration will begin at 7:45. The 40-yard tot run will begin at 8:50 am. The 5K race will start at 9:00 am and the 1 mile walk will begin at 9:05 am. Please register by March 29 to receive a t-shirt (limited numbers and sizes of t-shirts will be available after this date).
**Note - Registration discount for students will be applied once age group is chosen.**
