Mindset Matters event for parents
Shaler Area hosted a special event to provide parents and guardians with the opportunity to learn tips and skills to help their child be a better student.

The parent workshop “Mindset Matters,” was held on Thursday, May 24, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at the Shaler Area Middle School library on Mt. Royal Blvd. The evening focused on growth mindset, the concept that talents can be developed and are not fixed traits, and provided parents with information on how to help their child be a better student, how growth mindset is used in Shaler Area classrooms, and how to model the right attitude and mindset at home.

Bill Isler, former executive director of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media, was the guest speaker at this workshop and several Shaler Area teachers provided specific classroom examples of incorporating growth mindset.

Thanks to the Shaler Area High School students who are also members of the Future Teachers of America for providing free childcare on site by.
