Shaler Area to host district storytelling festival on Oct. 23
Our SASD Story Shaler Area Storytelling Festival in theater lights

Shaler Area School District is excited to celebrate the stories that make Shaler Area a special place during the storytelling festival, “Our SASD Story,” at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at Scott Primary School, 705 Scott Avenue.

The event will feature a public premier of the trailer for the district’s storytelling project and hearing from some of the storytellers in person.

“This storytelling event kicks off an entire year of highlighting our mission in action and celebrating who we are as a district,” said Superintendent Sean Aiken. “The stories that will be highlighted through this event—such as our communitywide Homecoming celebration or coming together to support one another after the flooding from Hurricane Ivan in 2004—are part of the fabric of our school district and capture the unique qualities that make Shaler Area a great place to live and learn. We are excited to share our story with the larger community.”

Shaler Area’s storytelling project came out of a partnership with local marketing agency, The Motherhood, and The Grable Foundation. The free event is open the public and appropriate for all ages. Popcorn, drinks, and free childcare will be available during the Oct. 23 event.

The project’s featured storytellers include:
