Shaler Area High School presents “Shrek the Musical”
Shaler Area High School students will present “Shrek the Musical” for two weekends in March.

“Shrek the Musical” is based on the 2001 DreamWorks animated film “Shrek” and follows the title character, an ogre played by junior Sonny DeMasi, as the unlikely hero in an adventure that features a cast of fairy tale creatures. Shrek teams up with Donkey, played by senior Michael Bly, as they set off on a journey to save the reluctant Princess Fiona, played by senior Kelsey Marshall, and help the fairy tale creatures return to their homes after being cast out of Duloc by Lord Farquaad, played by senior Alex Almonte.

The musical cast also includes many of the film favorites including senior Madeline Bartosh as Gingy, senior Madison Reed as Pinocchio, and junior Zoe Babbit, and seniors Michaela Brining and Emma Walter as the Dragon Trio. More than 100 additional students make up the ensemble, pit orchestra, and stage crew to produce this musical.

“Shrek the Musical” will run March 6-8 and March 13-14. The performances will be 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7 and March 13-14, and 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the high school auditorium, located at 381 Wible Run Road.
