Description:
Shaler Area will host a parent and community education event, “Vaping, Addiction & Your Child,” on Thursday, May 16, at the Shaler Area Middle School, 1810 Mt. Royal Blvd. The event will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and provide information and resources about vaping, addiction, and how they affect children and adults.

Vendor & Resource Fair
Resources from local & state organizations on vaping, addition, & recovery.
7 p.m.
Speaker: The Vaping Epidemic
Representatives from Breathe PA will share what every parent should know about vaping, from what devices look like & how they work to their dangers & how they can be concealed.
7:30 p.m.
Teen Scene: Hidden in Plain Sight
Explore a display of items from a mock teen’s room that may indicate substance abuse or other risky behaviors. Test your skills at identifying drug paraphernalia, signs of drug abuse, & stealth hiding places.
8 p.m.
Speaker: The Truth about Addiction
Dr. Tom Brophy (Shaler Area graduate) will talk about the teen brain & how addiction occurs as well as recovery & treatment options.
