Shaler Area Homecoming 2016 a huge success
  

  

Shaler Area School District hosted Homecoming 2016 on Saturday, Oct. 8.

Shaler Area Education Foundation inaugural Family Wellness 5K Run/Walk kicked off the day of Homecoming events, which include a parade, picnic and football game vs. Canon-McMillan followed by a high school dance in the evening.

Students, alumni, local fire departments and police departments and area community groups were all represented in the parade and illustrated the theme of “Happily Ever After.”

Senior Rebecca Helfrich was named Homecoming Queen for the band’s winning float depicting “Peter Pan.” Coming in 2nd for the float competition was choir’s “Where the Wild Things Are” float and in 3rd place was the senior class’ “Cat in the Hat” float.

Students also were recognized for their creativity and hard work in the banner competition.

Best Expression of Theme and Highest Overall Score: Reserve Primary
Most Original: Rogers Primary
Best School Identification: Jeffery Primary
Best General Appearance: Burchfield Primary
Best Expression of Spirit: Marzolf Primary

In the Elementary Division:
Best School Identification: Shaler Area Elementary School
Best General Appearance: St. Bonaventure School
