Rogers Primary School will be closed on Tuesday, April 7, following a fire that occurred at the school on Saturday, April 4.

Firefighters and first responders arrived at the school shortly after the fire was reported at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 4. The fire was contained in a mechanical room, however there was smoke throughout the building.

Shaler Area School District has canceled classes for Rogers Primary students ONLY on Tuesday, April 7. All Rogers Primary teachers are to report to Burchfield Primary School. All other District buildings will operate as usual.

Shaler Area School District is a strong community, and we are grateful for all of the first responders and firefighters who quickly responded to the incident to minimize any damage to the building. We appreciate the community's patience and support as we put into place a transition plan to ensure the safety and education of all students affected by this incident.

The Allegheny County Fire Marshal and the Shaler Township Police Department detectives are leading the investigation into the fire.

The District is waiting for the fire restoration company to complete its assessment before determining a more permanent plan that is in the best interest of the students' safety and their education.

The Shaler Township Police Department responded to the incident, and the Shaler Fire Police and Hampton Fire Police were on the scene to direct traffic. The Shaler Emergency Medical Services also responded, however no injuries were reported and no one was in the building at the time of the incident.
