Shaler Area School Board approved Dr. Bryan O’Black as Assistant Superintendent during its Sept. 16 meeting.

The School Board appointed Dr. O’Black to the position effective Sept. 17 for a term ending Sept. 30, 2019, at a salary of $115,000, prorated.

Dr. O’Black has been with Shaler Area for seven years and has served various roles in Central Office, most recently overseeing District-wide academic programs and information technology. Since July, Dr. O’Black has served as Interim Assistant to the Superintendent during which time he continued to oversee academic programs and also worked with the new teacher induction program, facilitated District-wide professional development and instructional programs, and oversaw the continuation of the Project ACE 1:1 iPad Initiative.

Dr. O’Black will continue to serve Shaler Area in a similar capacity and assist Acting Superintendent Dr. Vic Morrone with the day-to-day operations of the District.
