Congratulations to Pam Morris who won the Shaler Area Backpack Initiative's quilt raffle. The quilt, made out of Shaler Area T-shirts, was created by retired teachers Mary Lou Torchia, Lin Henninger and LuAnn McMillin to be raffled off to benefit the Backpack Initiative.
Thank you to all of the participants in the Shaler Area Backpack Initiative's quilt raffle who helped to raise more than $400 for the program. The Backpack Initiative provides child-friendly, single-serving snacks and easily prepared meals to students each Friday to provide a weekend food supply for students in need. This year's Shaler Area Backpack Initiative started in September with more than 200 children enrolled to receive food bags.
