Scott Primary Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Jan. 22

Progress is continuing on the new school building on Scott Avenue, and the project is on track to be completed and open for the start of the 2018-19 school year. As part of the future of the new school building, we invite you to attend a Town Hall Meeting for an update on the school construction project as well as an update on the transition plan for the opening of the building and merging two schools.

The Town Hall Meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, January 22, in the Shaler Area Elementary School auditorium, located at 700 Scott Avenue, across from the new school construction site. District administrators, school principals and representatives from HHSDR Architects/Engineers and Massaro Construction Management Services will be present at the meeting to answer any questions.

We are excited to be able to feature a new, fully accessible, state-of-the-art primary school in our community. The new K-3 primary school will be a two-story structure that will accommodate 460 to 600 students. The school is designed to house each grade level in its own neighborhood of classrooms and special education rooms and will include additional parking capacity, enhanced security features, a separate cafeteria, library, gymnasium and STEAM room.

We recognize that while change can be exciting, it also can provoke anxiety. I assure you that we are all working very closely to ensure a smooth transition that will maintain the great programs, initiatives, and best practices from each of the merging buildings and provide a truly inspiring learning environment for all of the students.

We hope you will be able to join us on January 22 as we continue the conversations in anticipation of the opening of the new school.

Sincerely,

Mr. Sean C. Aiken
Superintendent of Schools
