Rogers Primary receives grant from Action for Healthy Kids
Rogers Primary School is a proud recipient of a $1,000 grant from Action for Healthy Kids® (AFHK) for the 2017-2018 school year. The Game On grant is provided through funding by CSX Transportation to expand student access to physical activity and healthy foods in school, improve knowledge and behaviors around physical activity and healthy eating, and engage parents in activities that reinforce healthy habits at home.

Rogers Primary will use its grant to purchase a set of Imagination Playground Blue Blocks, foam building shapes, to be used in physical education classes and during indoor recess. The new equipment will provide students with the opportunity for physical activity through creative play.

“We recognize the impact of physical activity and good nutrition on our students’ health and learning and are excited to create an even healthier school environment with the funding and resources from Action for Healthy Kids and CSX,” said Cindy Foht, Rogers Primary principal. “We have an amazing group of parents at Rogers Primary, and one of our parents helped us apply for this grant which will benefit many students for years to come.”

Rogers Primary is one of 300 schools receiving a CSX-funded Game On grant along with technical support to implement its grant utilizing AFHK’s Game On program in the 2017-2018 school year. Since 2013, CSX-supported school grants have helped 1,353 schools implement health and wellness initiatives, impacting nearly 700,000 students.
