Fall sports season in review
Congratulations to all of Shaler Area’s fall sports athletes for the hard work and athleticism displayed throughout the sports season.
Football:
- Played historic first varsity football games on Biles Field against North Allegheny and Central Catholic and then also opened the new Louis C. Martig Field turf field at Titan Stadium against Butler
- Austin Sites and Christian Henning were selected to 2nd team All-Section
- Parker Kilgore and Jake Pollak were selected honorable mention
Girls Soccer:
- Josie Fenn named 2nd team All-Section
Boys Soccer:
- Won their tip-off tournament defeating West Allegheny and Franklin Regional
- Pat Bove was named to the 2nd team All-Section
- Jake Taylor, Peter Moorey, Jake Jashinski, Grant Lacey, Mike Bagwell, and Matt Potock were named honorable mention
Girls Tennis:
- Finished with 4-9 overall record, and able to beat Woodland Hills twice
- Graduated a large number of seniors, so will be looking to younger players for the future
Girls Volleyball:
- Qualified for playoffs
- Won their own tournament Shaler Area Girls Volleyball Tourney
- Sydney Schmitt was named 2nd team All-Section team
- Leah Cunningham and Oyinda Agbale were named honorable mention
Boys Golf:
- Finished 6-6 in team play
- 3 WPIAL qualifiers advance to the second round and one player qualify for the WPIAL Championships at Oakmont Country Club
- Tanner Grzegorczyk finished in a tie for 6th at WPIALS and qualified for the PIAA State Championships
Girls Golf:
- Swept section rival Kiski Area giving the team two section wins
- Senior Paige Gillespie was selected as one of 50 golfers across the country to earn a trip to the John Deere Golf Facility in North Carolina
Cross Country:
- Built on its momentum and fundamentals in the young team
