Two Shaler Area High School students qualify for National Chemistry Olympiad
Shaler Area High School juniors Kylie Dougherty and Andrew D’Agostino are two of only 13 high school students from the Pittsburgh section who qualified to compete in the U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad on April 21.

Kylie and Andrew are in Ms. Rena Murphy’s AP Chemistry class at Shaler Area High School and competed in the Pittsburgh Section of the American Chemical Society International Chemistry Olympiad earlier this month. Their scores qualified them to advance to the National Chemistry Olympiad at the University of Pittsburgh. The National Chemistry Olympiad is a four-and-a-half-hour exam that includes a multiple-choice section, problem solving section, and a lab practical.
