Welcome to 4D!!
The team consists of Mr. Johnston and myself. Together we will teach all academic areas. I will specialize in English Language Arts, which includes Reading, English and Spelling and Science. Mr. Johnston will specialize in Math and Social Studies.
In Reading, we will be using the Storytown series. Specific skills will be taught through the weekly stories. We will also read a variety of novels including: The Lemonade War and Stone Fox. Periodically, throughout the year, we will do book reports which focus on different genres of literatures. In English, we will learn basic grammar skills including nouns, verbs, and adjectives. A big emphasis will be placed on writing. This year we will write several pieces that are personal narrative, compare and contrast, persuasive, and expository. Spelling will be incorporated periodically and focus on vocabulary and content words.
In Science we will be using a "hands on approach". We will be exploring Electric Circuits, Land and Water, and Animal Studies. We will also learn about the Solar System.
