Stadium Construction Update: September 2016
Crews finalized the installation of the FieldTurf artificial turf on the field, including the addition of the infill, at the beginning of September.

At the beginning of September additional work also started to mill the asphalt base for the track.

Following the planned milling of the asphalt surface on the track, crews completed a “proof roll” to determine the stability of the base. At that time, the asphalt base cracked indicating it would not be suitable to support the new asphalt surface and track surface. During a Special Voting Meeting on August 31, the School Board voted to replace the existing track asphalt base course and stone sub base under the TPK Inc. Site Construction Contract for a cost of $186,941. See the meeting information here: www.sasd.k12.pa.us/BoardMeetings.aspx.

This work will ensure a stable base and subsurface for the new track.

Following the completion of this work, crews were able to begin laying asphalt around the track on September 16, 2016. The asphalt work was completed within one week. The asphalt will require up to three weeks to cure before the rubberized surface can be applied. While the asphalt cures, Titan Stadium
and the field were ready for the varsity football team's first home game on the new turf on September 30, 2016.
