Shaler Area also announced “Scott Primary School” as the official name of the new primary school after being approved by the Shaler Area School Board of Directors during its Aug. 16 voting meeting.

The District solicited feedback through a community survey in the spring of 2017 to begin the naming process. A naming committee, representing various stakeholder groups (parents, community members, board members, administrators, and teachers) then met in July to review all submissions. More than 500 individuals submitted up to three responses each as part of the survey. The naming committee submitted their recommendation to the superintendent who presented it to the school board at its August meeting.

In addition to the weekly construction updates posted to the website (on the right-hand side of this page), interested members of the public now can view progress on the construction site in real time with a live video stream of the project.
