Nature Art: April 14th - 17th

example Ms. R

Objective: To make art with objects you only find in nature.

Materials: Anything you can find in nature. Rocks, pebbles, flowers (violets, dandelions, tree blossoms) leaves, sticks, pinecones, acorns, moss, tree bark, etc.. (Please do not pick flowers from someone’s yard or garden!). Find things that are already on the ground. Be kind to nature and be careful. Watch out for poison ivy, poison oak, ticks, bees, etc...

Directions

=       Take a walk with your family or explore your front/back yard and gather materials that you can use to make nature art.

      > Find objects that have already fallen to the ground.

      > Be kind to nature: Please do not: pick flowers that are planted in your neighbor’s yards/ gardens, take things from your neighbor’s yards (without permission), pick leaves from the trees, or cut down branches. I think it is okay to pick a violet/ dandelion or two that is in your own yard. (Parents, I am going to leave that decision of picking flowers in the yard up to you.)

       > Be careful: Watch out for poison ivy, poison oak, ticks, bees, etc...

        >Find a place outside where you would like to make your nature art. It can be in the grass, on your porch (if you have one), on a tree stump, in the driveway.  If the weather is bad, just gather your materials and work on it inside!

      > Don’t make it where someone is going to walk! Please be safe while doing this; Do not make your art on the street.

      > Organize the objects you gathered. Lay them out so you can see everything you gathered.

       >Start to make your art.

What kind of art can you make?

     > Think of this assignment as a puzzle that has many ways that you can put it together. There is no right or wrong.

      >Arrange the objects however you want until you like it. Remember to only use the objects you gathered. Leave the paper, pencils, and glue inside! You won’t need it.

        > Don’t forget to take a photo (and upload it to Artsonia)! For more information on Artsonia, please see my page.

      > Parents: if you have more than one child working on this project, they can work together on one piece of nature art or if they want, they can work individually. And I encourage you to participate too!
